Perceptions about journalists

Gone were the days where the public had little or no knowledge about journalists and what they ought to do and not to do. Fast forward, In this age and time, people have become more equipped about  the roles of journalists. They are no longer passive receivers of information. They can tell the positives and negatives of the profession.

To the best of knowledge of some individuals, journalists are the fourth branch of Government and they have the power to influence the public positively and negatively even though to some, they doubt if journalists know the power they possess.

In the view of some people, journalists play  vital roles when it comes to information dissemination and act as watchdogs and hold politicians accountable for their actions but sometimes do investigative work based on the amount they can sell it for just to sink the truth from the public and it's quite unfortunate there are recalcitrant journalists that give room to their reportage to be compromised by money and power at the detriment of the social responsibility role they owe to citizens as their topmost priority as far as the profession is concerned.

In addition, positive sentiments of others towards 21st century Journalists boils down to their versatility and adaptability, contrary to that, their nature of adding too much icing on delicate and technical issues especially when they have little or no expertise knowledge on the subject matter makes it very worrying and unprofessional.

Collectively, these are the views of individuals about journalists.
